Who might be able to join this trial:
For unpaid caregivers:
- You are an unpaid primary caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia condition
- You are 18 years of age or older (there is no upper age limit)
- You can speak, read, and write in English
- You do not have a history of most psychiatric diagnoses — though having had or currently having a mood disorder (like depression), anxiety disorder, or a past substance-related disorder is still okay
- You own a smartphone (iPhone or Android) that can be used to complete surveys
- You provide a significant amount of care to the person you look after
- You are experiencing at least some level of stress related to caregiving
For the person receiving care:
- You have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia condition
- You are being cared for by the caregiver who is taking part in the study
- You are willing and able to understand and complete a consent form and questionnaire
- You have at least a minimum level of dementia symptoms
Who may not be able to join:
For unpaid caregivers:
- You have a current or past diagnosis of certain psychiatric conditions, such as psychotic or personality disorders (mood, anxiety, or past substance-related disorders are still acceptable)
- You are currently receiving therapy specifically aimed at reducing caregiver stress or burden, or that uses a technique called cognitive reappraisal as a main focus
- You have significant difficulties with vision, hearing, or thinking that would make it hard to complete the study tasks
- You have previously taken part in a study from this research team that used the same or a very similar design
For the person receiving care:
- Either you or your caregiver does not want you to participate
- You have significant difficulties with vision, hearing, or understanding that would prevent you from completing questionnaires, even with your caregiver's help
- You have previously taken part in a study from this research team that used the same or a very similar design
