Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are male or female, aged 50 or older, of any ethnicity
• Your eye being studied has at least one early area of damage to the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye (called the retinal pigment epithelium), either partial or complete, as detected by a special eye scan — and if complete, the damaged area is no larger than half the size of the optic disc (a small specific measurement used in eye care) (confirm with trial site)
• Your eye is clear enough, your pupil can be dilated enough, and you can focus well enough to allow good-quality eye imaging and vision testing
• You are able to follow the study schedule and attend all required visits

Who may not be able to join:

• Your study eye shows signs of fluid buildup, leaking, or bleeding at the back of the eye
• The area of complete damage at the back of your study eye is larger than half a disc area at the start of the study
• You have ever had treatment for a leaking or "wet" form of abnormal blood vessel growth in your study eye
• You have any eye condition other than age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in your study eye, including uncontrolled glaucoma or eye inflammation
• You have previously had laser treatment or a related light-based therapy for AMD in your study eye
• You had cataract surgery in your study eye within the last three months, or a laser eye capsule procedure within the last two weeks
• You are currently taking part in, or have previously taken part in, a clinical trial testing a drug or supplement for AMD (except trials involving only vitamins and minerals)
• You are currently taking part in, or recently finished (within the last three months), a clinical trial testing a drug or supplement for any condition other than AMD
• You have another eye condition in your study eye that, in the doctor's opinion, is likely to need treatment during the study or could cause significant vision loss if left untreated
• You have a condition that, in the doctor's opinion, would make it difficult for you to attend all study appointments regularly (for example, severe memory problems or substance dependency)
• You have a serious ongoing health condition that is not well controlled, such as heart, lung, kidney, liver, or neurological disease (confirm with trial site)
