Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 65 years old (any gender).
- You have been diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) or microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), either for the first time or as a returning condition, meeting specific medical classification standards.
- Your disease is currently in complete remission (fully under control) after being treated with steroids and a medication called Rituximab, and you are taking no more than 10mg of prednisone (or an equivalent steroid) per day.
- Your blood tests showed a positive ANCA result either at the time of your diagnosis or at some point during your illness.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a specific genetic variation called a TPMT gene mutation.
- You have previously been treated with a medication called azathioprine (AZA) but your disease came back while taking it.
- You previously had to stop taking azathioprine (AZA) because of side effects or because your body did not tolerate it.
- You are planning to become pregnant within the next 1.5 years.
- You have serious liver problems, heart failure, or severely reduced kidney function (eGFR below 30ml/min).
- You have uncontrolled severe high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, or an active bacterial or fungal infection.
- You have an active hepatitis virus infection or an active tuberculosis (mycobacteria) infection.
- You have another autoimmune disease in addition to GPA or MPA.
- You have or have had cancer (malignancy).
- The lead doctors running the trial decide you are not suitable for any other reason (confirm with trial site).
