- People who have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease
- People who need their first surgical removal of part of the small intestine and colon, due to fistulas, abscesses, narrowing of the bowel, or Crohn's disease that has not responded to medication
- People who are enrolled in the French social security system
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had surgery to remove part of the small intestine and colon
- People for whom a camera examination of the bowel after surgery would not be medically safe (confirm with trial site)
- People whose surgery involves a temporary stoma (an opening in the abdomen to divert waste while the bowel heals)
- People requiring emergency surgery due to a serious infection in the abdomen (peritonitis)
- People who are pregnant
- People who are not willing to participate or who are not able to give informed consent
- People who are under a court-ordered legal guardianship
