Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have previously been diagnosed with an airways disease, according to European Respiratory Society guidelines.
• People who have never smoked, or who used to smoke but no longer do.
• People aged between 18 and 65 years old, male or female.
• People who are able to give written consent to participate.
• People who can fully understand spoken and written English.
• People with Cystic Fibrosis who are currently taking a triple CFTR modulator treatment (a specific type of Cystic Fibrosis medication).
• People with Cystic Fibrosis who are not taking any CFTR modulator medication.
• Healthy volunteers who have no symptoms, have never used an inhaler, and have no history of respiratory (breathing) disease.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have had a serious flare-up of their condition requiring a hospital stay or a course of steroid tablets in the past two months.
• People for whom exercise testing involving the heart and lungs would not be considered safe (confirm with trial site).
• People for whom standard breathing function tests would not be considered safe (confirm with trial site).
• People for whom a DEXA scan (a type of low-level X-ray used to measure body composition) would not be suitable — for example, due to pregnancy, recent use of contrast dye in medical imaging, or body weight considerations.
• People who are unable to walk independently, or who have a physical condition affecting movement or the ability to complete exercise testing.
• People with significant difficulties in thinking or understanding that would prevent them from safely completing the study tests or providing written consent.
• People who are currently using oxygen therapy.
• People who are unable to give consent to participate.
• People who have an active infection with Burkholderia Cepacia Complex, tuberculosis, or Mycobacterium abscessus (specific types of bacterial infections relevant to Cystic Fibrosis).
• People who have had a lung transplant.
• People who have been diagnosed with a heart or cardiovascular (circulation) condition.
• People whose blood test results are outside the normal range — for example, showing anaemia or moderate to severe kidney problems.
