Who might be able to join this trial:
- You can be a man or a woman
- You have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (PAD) in your legs caused by narrowed or blocked arteries
- You experience leg pain or cramping when walking, at a mild to moderate level (your doctor can confirm where you fall on this scale)
- Your primary care doctor or vascular doctor has given you medical clearance to participate
- You are able to walk at least one city block
- You are currently not very physically active, meaning you exercise less than 150 minutes per week
- You have access to a phone and/or email and the internet
- You are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a life expectancy of less than six months
- You have another health condition that severely limits your ability to walk, such as being wheelchair-bound
- You currently live in a nursing home
- You have recently joined an exercise program or are already exercising 150 minutes or more per week
- You are scheduled to have a procedure to restore blood flow to your legs, or an amputation, within the next two months
- You have had a heart attack, stroke, mini-stroke, chest pain episode, or heart procedure within the last three months
- You have an unstable heart condition, such as severe heart valve disease, significant heart failure, untreated complex heart defects, or serious irregular heart rhythms
- You are currently struggling with substance abuse
- You have a psychiatric condition that would make it difficult to follow the study's instructions
- You are pregnant
- You are unable to speak and read English
