Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 40 and 75 years old (men or women)
- People who have pain or swelling in one knee due to osteoarthritis for at least 6 months
- People whose knee osteoarthritis has been confirmed by X-ray
- People who have already tried non-surgical treatments for at least 4 months without enough relief
- People who are willing and able to attend follow-up appointments, including X-rays and MRI scans
- People who are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give their own consent to participate
- People younger than 40 or older than 75 years old
- People whose knee has a significant alignment problem (leg bending more than 5 degrees out of normal position) (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a knee injury or received an injection into the knee joint in the past 6 months
- People who have had knee surgery in the past 12 months
- People who have other knee problems causing pain or swelling, such as cartilage damage or a recent meniscus injury
- People who have or have had cancer
- People with serious uncontrolled conditions such as rheumatic diseases, diabetes, or thyroid disorders
- People with an active infection or infectious disease
- People with a history of alcohol or drug misuse
- People who are pregnant
- People who are allergic to local anesthetics used during the procedure
