Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (PAD), a condition affecting blood flow in the legs
- Your PAD symptoms have been stable for at least 3 months
- You are between 40 and 85 years old
- You are a man or a woman who is not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Who may not be able to join:
- You have leg pain at rest, or have open sores or tissue death in your legs due to poor blood flow
- You have another condition (not PAD) that makes it hard for you to walk
- You have had major surgery or a procedure to restore blood flow in your legs within the past 6 months
- You have had a heart attack in the past 6 months or have unstable chest pain
- You have severe lung disease and need oxygen or frequently use emergency inhalers
- Your blood vessels in the legs cannot be properly compressed during a routine circulation test (confirm with trial site)
- You already exercise regularly — meaning 30 or more minutes of continuous activity on 3 or more days per week
- You currently smoke or use any products containing nicotine
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have had ankle surgery or reconstruction, or have had an injury to your ankle, Achilles tendon, or feet within the past year
- You have rheumatoid arthritis or another disease that causes joint damage
- You have been treated for a serious medical illness within the past 12 months
- Your blood pressure is not well controlled
- Your diabetes is not well controlled
- You are unable to walk on a treadmill at a very slow pace (1 mile per hour)
