- People who have been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or IBD that has not been clearly classified as either type
- People who have medical records available that confirm their IBD diagnosis
- People with no personal or family history of IBD, and no history of unexplained ongoing diarrhea, blood in stool, anaemia, stomach pain, or unexplained weight loss (these people may be eligible to join as healthy comparison participants)

- People who have other gut or digestive conditions that do not fit the IBD diagnosis categories listed above, and who also do not meet the criteria to participate as a healthy comparison participant
