Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People with severe limb-threatening poor blood flow (called critical limb ischemia, or CLI) who are scheduled for surgery to explore or bypass blood vessels behind the knee.
  • People with severe limb-threatening poor blood flow where the tissue damage is permanent and/or gangrene has developed in the lower limb, and who are scheduled for a major amputation of the lower limb.
  • People with a bulging (aneurysm) in the large blood vessel in the lower abdomen (but above the groin) who are scheduled for a minimally invasive procedure to repair it, and who do not have critical limb ischemia — this group includes both people with and without type 2 diabetes.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are pregnant.
  • People who have an inherited or genetic disease.
  • People who have been diagnosed with a malignant cancer (confirm with trial site).
