Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with advanced cancer of the esophagus (the tube connecting your throat to your stomach), whether or not you are currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy
  • You have significant difficulty swallowing (rated above a certain level of severity) or you have an abnormal connection between your esophagus and your airways caused by the cancer
  • A team of doctors has recommended that a tube-like device (stent/prosthesis) be placed in your esophagus to help relieve swallowing difficulties

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are under 18 years of age
  • Your cancer originated somewhere other than the esophagus
  • The affected area of the esophagus measures less than 30mm (about 1.2 inches) in length
  • You have previously had a stent or prosthesis placed in your esophagus
  • Your tumor can be easily passed through with a standard endoscope (a thin camera tube about 9.8mm wide), meaning the narrowing may not be severe enough (confirm with trial site)
