Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women aged 45 or older
- People diagnosed with early-stage, estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) invasive breast cancer, where the tumour is a certain size and has not spread to nearby lymph nodes based on scans (known as clinical T1-2N0 ER+)
- People whose cancer has been found to have spread to underarm (axillary) lymph nodes, confirmed by a biopsy that was guided by ultrasound
- People who are able to give written consent and are able to follow the requirements of the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose swollen lymph nodes can be felt by hand during a physical examination
- People whose breast cancer is HER2-positive or estrogen receptor-negative (ER-)
- People whose lymph node biopsy shows the cancer has spread more than 3mm outside the lymph node itself (called extranodal extension)
- People whose pre-surgery scans show more than 2 suspicious lymph nodes
