Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (a type of bowel disease) for at least 3 months, with test results from a camera examination of the bowel and tissue samples that confirm the diagnosis

- People who have previously had large portions or all of their large bowel surgically removed, or who have had a stoma (an opening in the abdomen for waste) created due to ulcerative colitis
- People who need bowel surgery because of their ulcerative colitis, or who plan to have any scheduled surgery during the study period
- People with evidence of serious, worsening, or poorly controlled problems affecting the kidneys, liver, blood, hormone system, lungs, mental health, or nervous system
- People who show signs of an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection at the time of screening
