Who might be able to join this trial:

For people with knee osteoarthritis (target: 40 participants):

• People aged 45 or older
• People who experience knee pain that is brought on or made worse by activity
• People whose morning knee stiffness either does not occur or lasts no longer than 30 minutes
• People who would rate their knee pain at least 4 out of 10 on a pain scale
• People whose knee pain is their main pain complaint, if they have pain in more than one area
• People who can speak and understand English

For people without pain (target: 20 participants):

• People who do not have any pain-related medical condition
• People who can speak and understand English

Who may not be able to join:

For people with knee osteoarthritis:

• People who have nerve damage or reduced sensation in the wrist, knee, or forearm
• People who use electrically active medical devices, such as a pacemaker
• People who regularly use opioid pain medications
• People who are pregnant
• People who have a serious or uncontrolled ongoing condition affecting the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, nervous system, metabolism, hormones, digestive system, or who have epilepsy
• People who have rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or a neurological condition that would prevent participation in the study procedures
• People who have cognitive impairment
• People who have previously had a knee replacement
• People who are unable to exercise due to severe pain or other symptoms
• People who have had any treatment procedure for their knee pain in the past 3 months

For people without pain:

• People who have experienced any pain episode in the past 3 months, whether from a musculoskeletal injury or any other cause
