Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must already be taking a stable, established dose of recommended medications for Heart Failure.
- You must have an existing diagnosis of Heart Failure, confirmed by a scan or imaging test within the last 6 months.
- You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI — a measure of body weight relative to height) must be between 23 and 38.
- Your average blood sugar level over the past few months (measured by an HbA1c blood test) must be between 6.0% and 10.0%.
- Your blood pressure must be below 145/85 mmHg.
- Your kidneys must be working at a sufficient level, measured by a blood test called eGFR, which must be above 30 (confirm with trial site).
- If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you must be willing to use contraception if needed.
Who may not be able to join:
- You cannot join if you are currently taking a type of diabetes medication called SGLT2 inhibitors, or any medications that may harm heart function or rapidly affect blood sugar levels (confirm with trial site for specific drugs).
- You cannot join if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
- You cannot join if you have a known allergy or sensitivity to the study medications or their ingredients.
- You cannot join if you currently have a drug or alcohol problem that the trial team believes would make it difficult for you to follow the study requirements.
- You cannot join if you (or your legal representative) are unwilling or unable to sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
- You cannot join if you have a history of cancer, unless it was a certain type of skin cancer that has been fully resolved or in remission for at least 5 years.
- You cannot join if you have had a major heart or cardiovascular event (such as a heart attack) within the last 3 months.
- You cannot join if you have serious conditions affecting major organs, significant metabolic diseases, or physical limitations that would prevent you from completing the study.
