Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who are able to give written consent to participate (a large-print version is available for people with visual impairment, and an easy-to-read version is available for people who need extra support due to cognitive difficulties)
- People who are able to travel to a testing site in person
- People who are able to complete a set of required assessments, including a medical examination, a medical history questionnaire, a blood test to check genetic status, and a short neuropsychology assessment (approximately 20 minutes)
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of CADASIL through genetic testing (a specific gene change called a NOTCH3 pathogenic variant), OR
- People with a suspected CADASIL diagnosis based on their medical history and brain MRI results, OR
- People who are a close blood relative (such as a parent, sibling, or child) of someone who has tested positive for the NOTCH3 gene change, OR
- People who are not related to any trial participant, have tested negative for the NOTCH3 gene change, and have no concerns about their memory or thinking (these participants serve as a comparison group)
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose level of cognitive impairment means they are unable to give informed consent to participate
