Who might be able to join this trial:
Asthma Group:
- Adults aged 18 to 85 with a confirmed history of asthma (based on self-report or medical records)
- People who are able to give written consent and follow the study requirements
- People who are able to complete a specific type of breathing test (spirometry) according to standard guidelines
- People who have been treated with inhaled corticosteroids or biologic therapy for asthma for at least 3 months

- People who are able to give written consent and follow the study requirements
- Current or former smokers with at least 10 "pack-years" of smoking history (this refers to the amount smoked over time — confirm with trial site)
- People whose CT scan shows a mucus score of 3 or higher — this scan is done as part of screening
- People whose lung function does not drop by more than 20% after receiving a study treatment (this is checked during the study)
- People with confirmed mucus plugging on CT scan: no minimum lung function level required; People without confirmed mucus plugging: a lung function reading below 50% of the expected level is required (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People with other medical conditions that, in the opinion of the trial doctor, could increase the risks of study procedures or affect the study results
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who have had an upper respiratory infection (such as a cold) in the past 10 days
