Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a newly found breast lump that has been rated as BIRADS 4a, 4b, 4c, or 5 on a standard ultrasound and has been recommended for an ultrasound-guided biopsy (confirm with trial site if unsure of your BIRADS rating)
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who are female
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a known condition of high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension), or a known allergic reaction to ultrasound contrast agents (special dyes used during ultrasound scans)
- People with kidney failure or reduced kidney function — but only if the trial involves a contrast-enhanced scan called CESM
- People with an allergy to iodine-based contrast dye — but only if the trial involves a CESM scan
- People whose breast lump measures 1 cm or smaller at its widest point — but only if the trial involves a contrast-enhanced ultrasound scan (CEUS)
- People who are pregnant, possibly pregnant, or currently breastfeeding
- People who are currently receiving chemotherapy before surgery (called neoadjuvant chemotherapy)
- People under 18 years of age
- People who are 30 years of age or younger — but only if the trial involves a CESM scan
- People who have a breast lump in the same breast that previously had surgery to remove a cancerous lump (lumpectomy)
- People who have cancer in the same breast being studied (however, people with cancer in the opposite breast may still be considered eligible)
- People with a known allergy to a substance called perflutren — but only if the trial involves a CEUS scan
- People who have previously had a biopsy of the specific breast lump being studied
- People who have breast implants
