Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, confirmed using a standard diagnostic interview
- People who have been taking clozapine for at least 6 months
- People whose antipsychotic medication dose has been stable for at least 1 month
- People who have a well-established history of consistently taking their outpatient medications as prescribed
- People of childbearing potential who are willing to use appropriate birth control throughout the study

- People whose psychiatric condition is considered unstable by the lead doctor overseeing the trial
- People whose antipsychotic medication dose is not currently stable
- People who currently meet the criteria for a substance use disorder (other than caffeine or nicotine use)
- People with significant or unstable medical conditions, including serious heart, liver, or kidney disease
- People with a history of a seizure disorder (such as epilepsy)
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have taken the medication lumateperone in the past 3 months
- People who have taken any of the following antipsychotic medications in the past 3 months: aripiprazole, brexpiprazole, or cariprazine
