Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with osteoarthritis in one knee only (not both knees)
- People who have been experiencing knee pain for more than three months
- People whose knee stiffness in the morning lasts less than 30 minutes
- People whose affected knee shows a crackling or grinding sensation, tenderness in the bone around the knee, and no noticeable warmth to the touch
Who may not be able to join:
- People with osteoarthritis in both knees, or osteoarthritis of the hip
- People with severe osteoporosis (significant loss of bone density)
- People with fibromyalgia (a condition causing widespread body pain)
- People with a history of tumours or cancer
- People with active inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout
- People who have had, or are currently undergoing, a joint replacement in either leg
- People with certain neurological conditions, including Parkinson's disease, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, muscular dystrophies, motor neuron disease, or Alzheimer's disease
- People with an infected wound or bone infection in or around the knee
- People with deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot in a deep vein) or thrombophlebitis (vein inflammation related to a clot)
- People who have altered or reduced sensation in their lower limbs
- People with cognitive (thinking or memory) or heart and lung conditions that may prevent them from completing the exercises involved in the trial
- People who currently use a walking aid such as a cane, walker, or crutches
- People who have recently experienced a trauma or injury to the knee
- People who have already received physiotherapy treatment for their knee
- People who have received injections into the knee joint, anti-inflammatory medications, or cartilage-protecting treatments within the six months before the trial begins
