Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have had pancreatitis (painful inflammation of the pancreas) that has come back more than once
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had fewer than 2 episodes of pancreatitis in the past year
- Your pancreatitis was caused by a medical procedure (such as a scope procedure, surgery, or other invasive treatment) — these episodes do not count toward eligibility
- You have had an allergic reaction to anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen or naproxen (NSAIDs)
- You regularly take aspirin or similar anti-inflammatory painkillers more than 3 times per week
- You have an active stomach ulcer, or had a stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding within the last 3 months, significant liver or kidney disease, or certain abnormal blood clotting results (confirm with trial site)
- You have gallstones
- You have had, or are planning to have within the next 2 years, certain procedures such as gallbladder removal, pancreatic surgery, or specific scope-based treatments after your most recent episode of pancreatitis
- You have very high triglyceride (fat) levels in your blood and are not receiving treatment to lower them
- You have a condition called primary hyperparathyroidism that has been successfully treated after your last pancreatitis episode, or you are planning to have it treated within 2 years (confirm with trial site)
- You drink heavily (more than about 4 standard drinks per day for men, or 3 for women) and have not stopped, or you experience significant symptoms when you try to stop drinking
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are unable to give your own consent to take part in the trial
