Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis, with knee pain that has lasted more than 3 months
  • You experience morning stiffness in your knee that lasts less than 30 minutes
  • You have a crackling or grinding sensation in your knee (sometimes called "crepitus")
  • You have tenderness in the knee bone, no noticeable warmth around the knee, and/or your knee osteoarthritis has been confirmed by an X-ray showing a mild to moderate level of damage (grade 1 to 3 out of 4 on a standard scale)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have osteoarthritis in your hip
  • You have severe osteoporosis (significant loss of bone density)
  • You have fibromyalgia (a condition causing widespread body pain)
  • You have a history of any tumors or cancer
  • You have an active inflammatory joint disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout
  • You are currently waiting for or recovering from a joint replacement in either leg
  • You have a neurological condition such as Parkinson's disease, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, motor neuron disease, Alzheimer's disease, or any condition affecting your heart or lungs that could limit your ability to exercise
  • You use a walking aid such as a cane or walker
  • You have had a recent knee injury
  • You have received any of the following treatments in the last six months: physiotherapy, steroid injections into the joint, anti-inflammatory medications, or joint-protective supplements (confirm with trial site)
