Who might be able to join this trial:
For the person with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA):
- A neurologist and supporting medical assessments have confirmed a diagnosis of PPA
- English is the main language used for everyday communication
- Hearing is sufficient (with or without hearing aids) to hold a conversation in a crowded room
- Vision is sufficient (with or without glasses) to read a newspaper or similar everyday materials
- A basic technology check can be passed, showing enough ability to use video calling and a web-based program called Communication Bridge™ (training may be provided)
- A depression screening score falls within an acceptable range (a score of 9 or below on a standard scale)
- The PPA is at a mild to moderate stage, as assessed by a speech-language pathologist through interview and standardised testing
For the communication partner (a person who joins alongside the PPA participant):
- The communication partner is 18 years of age or older
- English is the main language used for everyday communication
- Hearing is sufficient (with or without hearing aids) to hold a conversation in a crowded room
- A basic technology check can be passed, showing enough ability to use video calling and the Communication Bridge™ web program (training may be provided)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a dementia diagnosis other than Primary Progressive Aphasia
- People who are already enrolled in a separate speech-language therapy program during the study period
- Communication partners who have an existing communication difficulty of their own — such as aphasia or dementia — that would affect their ability to take part
