Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 75 years old (any gender)
- You have been formally diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis
- You have had ongoing pain from chronic pancreatitis for more than 6 months, whether the pain is constant or comes and goes
- Your pain score measured by a specific tool called the Izbicki scale is above 30 (the trial team will calculate this)
- Your opioid pain medication dose has stayed the same for the past 30 days
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had a sudden, acute flare-up of pancreatitis in the last 30 days
- You have another chronic pain condition (separate from pancreatitis) that requires you to take opioid pain medication every day
- You have serious failure of one or more organs that is likely to affect pain-related results within 6 months (confirm with trial site)
- Your long-term blood sugar control test (HbA1c) shows a result above 10%
- Certain blood test results fall outside acceptable ranges, including very low white blood cell counts, low hemoglobin, low platelets, abnormal liver values, or high creatinine levels (the trial team will check these)
- You have been diagnosed with moderate or severe heart failure (New York Heart Association Class 2 or higher)
- You have or have had lung, blood, or solid organ cancer — other than certain early-stage skin or cervical cancers — within the past 3 years
- You currently have hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HIV
- You currently have any active cancer, except for certain non-melanoma skin cancers
- You have taken part in another clinical trial involving an experimental drug or device in the past 30 days, or plan to during this study
- You are planning to have an endoscopy with treatment, surgery, or drainage of a pancreatic structure in the next 6 months
- You have had pancreatic surgery, a therapeutic endoscopy procedure, or a hospital stay related to pancreatitis in the past 90 days
- You have had ongoing problems with alcohol or illegal drug use in the past 6 months
- You currently have an infected fluid collection or area of dead tissue around the pancreas
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are of childbearing potential and unwilling to use adequate contraception during the study (this applies to male participants with female partners of childbearing potential as well)
- You are not willing to follow the study plan and attend required assessments
