Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have had an acute ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) within 24 hours of when they were last known to be well
- People (or their representative) who are able to sign a written consent form before joining the trial
- People whose brain scans (CT scan, MRI, or similar imaging) show a blockage in a specific artery in the brain — either the internal carotid artery or parts of the middle cerebral artery
- People whose brain scans show a large area of brain affected by the stroke, based on specific scoring or measurement criteria used by the medical team
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose brain scans show signs of active bleeding inside the skull
- People whose brain scans show signs of significant brain swelling or shifting of brain structures
- People who are pregnant, or people of childbearing potential whose pregnancy test comes back positive
- People with a history of bleeding disorders, or serious heart, liver, or kidney disease, or a severe blood infection (sepsis)
- People who have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of less than 6 months
- People who are already taking part in another clinical treatment trial
