Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 8 and 21 years old
- You have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease within the last 24 months
- You have elevated levels of certain inflammation markers shown in blood or stool tests (such as CRP, ESR, or fecal calprotectin) at the time of joining
- Your Crohn's disease is currently active, based on a standard scoring system used for children and young people (confirm with trial site)
- You are able to give your own consent, or if you are under 18, your parent or guardian is able to give consent on your behalf
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously had surgery for Crohn's disease
- Your Crohn's disease affects the area around the back passage (perianal disease)
- You have used steroid medications (such as prednisone) within the last 4 weeks
- Your dose of certain immune-suppressing medications has been changed within the last 8 weeks
- You have taken azathioprine within 4 weeks of the final study visit
- Your methotrexate dose was started or adjusted within 3 weeks of the final study visit
- You have previously used any biological medications (such as injected or infused treatments) for Crohn's disease
- You have previously been treated with a full liquid diet (exclusive enteral nutrition) or any other special diet for Crohn's disease
- You have previously taken antibiotics specifically to treat Crohn's disease
- You have a known allergy to any ingredients in the study smoothie
- You have been admitted to hospital because of severe Crohn's disease symptoms
- You are unwilling to give your consent to participate
