Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are 18 years of age or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in one hip, rated as grade II or III on a standard medical scale used to measure joint damage (confirm with trial site if unsure of your grading)
  • People who have had hip pain for more than six months, located at the front, side, or inner part of the hip

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have nerve pain that travels down the leg on the same side as the affected hip
  • People who have bone tissue death in the ball of the hip joint (a condition called osteonecrosis of the femoral head)
  • People who have previously had hip replacement surgery on the hip being studied, or who have surgical scarring near that hip that may have altered its normal structure
  • People with a severe hip dislocation condition
  • People whose hip pain is only felt in the back (posterior) region
  • People who have painful knee osteoarthritis on the same side as the affected hip
  • People who have had a steroid or lubricating fluid injection into the affected hip joint within the past six months
  • People who have a neurological disease, nerve damage in the limbs (peripheral neuropathy), or a psychiatric condition
  • People who use a pacemaker
  • People whose blood clotting levels (measured by a test called INR) are above 3
