Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis on the inner side of the knee joint, confirmed by X-ray showing bone spurs and narrowing of the joint space.
- People who have had knee pain for more than 6 months.
- People whose average knee pain over the past 6 months has been at least 3 out of 10 on a pain scale.
- People who also have pain in the foot or feet on the same side as the painful knee.
- People who are able to communicate in English.
- People who show a measurable change in the way they move when wearing the study insoles, as determined by an in-person physical assessment at the trial site.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose X-rays show more osteoarthritis on the outer side of the knee than the inner side.
- People who have had knee surgery or an injection into the knee joint within the past 6 months.
- People who are currently using, or have used in the past 6 months, corticosteroid medication for any reason.
- People who have a condition that causes arthritis throughout the body (such as rheumatoid arthritis).
- People who have previously had a knee replacement or a surgical procedure to realign the shin bone (tibial osteotomy).
- People who have any other condition that affects how their lower limbs function.
- People who are currently wearing shoe insoles, or who are planning to get any footwear modifications in the next 6 months.
- People who have previously used insoles and experienced increased leg or foot pain, or stopped using them on the advice of a doctor or on their own due to problems.
