Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with primary hip osteoarthritis (wear and tear of the hip joint) at any stage
  • People attending the orthopaedic department at a participating hospital, either in preparation for hip replacement surgery or for a consultation only

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have painful or disabling problems with the opposite hip or knee
  • People who have painful knee osteoarthritis or a knee replacement on the same side as the affected hip
  • People who have previously had surgery on the hip that is being studied
  • People who have had a fracture in the leg or foot within the past year
  • People who have had a sprain in the leg within the past 3 months
  • People who have a neurological condition or a degenerative disease
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who are under legal guardianship, curatorship, or a court protection order
  • People who have a cognitive impairment that would make it impossible to understand and follow the trial
  • People whose hip surgery would be performed using a surgical approach other than the Moore posterolateral technique (confirm with trial site)
