Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have peripheral artery disease (reduced blood flow in the legs) along with rest pain, gangrene, or a leg wound that has not healed for more than 2 weeks — a condition known as chronic limb-threatening ischemia.
- People whose blocked or narrowed arteries are located below the knee (in the lower leg area).
- People who have a suitable artery below the knee that a surgeon can connect a bypass graft to, with one clear blood flow path between the knee and ankle (confirm with trial site).
- People who have enough of their own vein available (confirmed by a pre-surgery vein scan) to be used as the bypass graft.
- People who understand what the procedure involves, are willing to follow the study requirements, attend follow-up appointments, and agree to take part in writing.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose bypass surgery would use an artificial graft or a donated (preserved) vein rather than their own vein.
- People whose artery blockage is caused by something other than a build-up of fatty deposits in the artery walls.
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than 2 years.
- People who have a psychological, developmental, physical, or emotional condition that the investigator believes could interfere with surgery or with attending follow-up visits.
- People who have any other condition that the investigator believes should prevent participation.
- People who the investigator believes are at too high a risk for serious complications during open surgery.
