Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have had their first-ever stroke (either a blocked blood vessel or a bleed in the brain) affecting one side of the brain or the brainstem
- People who have weakness in one arm as a result of the stroke, within a specific range of severity as measured by a standard clinical scale
- People for whom treatment can begin within 21 days of the stroke occurring
- People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part

- People who had weakness in their arm before the stroke occurred
- People who have a medical reason that makes brain stimulation using magnetic pulses unsafe for them
- People who have magnetic-sensitive devices or metal objects implanted in the head or neck area, such as cochlear implants, brain stimulators, pacemakers, defibrillators, or metal fragments
- People who have a history of epilepsy
- People whose treating rehabilitation doctor identifies other safety concerns that could make participation harmful
- People whose treating rehabilitation doctor determines they have severe issues that would make participation difficult, such as extreme fatigue or serious difficulties with communication
- People who have a life expectancy of less than one year
