Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have painful knee osteoarthritis that has been assessed as needing a full knee replacement
- People whose knee bends inward (a "bow-legged" alignment) by no more than 10 degrees
- People whose knee ligaments, specifically the ligament at the back of the knee (posterior cruciate ligament), are healthy enough to be kept in place during surgery
- People aged between 21 and 80 years old
- People who are willing and able to attend follow-up appointments and complete self-assessment questionnaires
- People who are able to give informed consent to participate in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently have or have previously had an infection in or around the knee
- People whose overall health makes it unsafe to undergo major surgery
- People whose arthritis is mainly caused by an inflammatory condition (such as rheumatoid arthritis)
- People who have had their kneecap (patella) surgically removed
- People whose posterior cruciate ligament (a key ligament inside the knee) is damaged or absent
- People who have a significant sideways misalignment of the knee joint
- People who have had a previous injury to the shinbone or thighbone that caused misalignment, blocked the bone canal, or required surgical fixation with plates or screws
- People whose knee bends outward (a "knock-kneed" alignment)
- People who have a nerve condition that affects their ability to move
- People who have significant bone loss in the knee that would require special implant parts such as extra blocks, cones, or extended stems
