Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been formally diagnosed with a stroke for the first time, confirmed according to standard diagnostic requirements
- People whose lower limb movement after stroke is moderately to severely affected, based on a standard assessment score below 34 out of 34 (Fugl-Meyer Lower Extremity scale)
- People aged between 18 and 85 years old
- People who are able to walk with a small amount of assistance
- People who score between 20 and 30 on a standard memory and thinking test (MMSE), and who are able to understand and follow instructions during the trial
- People who are able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People with serious vision or hearing problems
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had brain surgery and still have an unrepaired opening in the skull, or who have metal implants in the head from brain surgery
- People who have other conditions that affect movement in the legs or feet, such as severe joint disease or a recent leg fracture
- People with a history of serious mental health disorders, other brain or nervous system conditions, severe heart or lung problems, failure of multiple organs, brain tumours, or epilepsy
