Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be 18 years of age or older
- You must have signed an approved consent form agreeing to take part in the trial
- You must have severe reduced blood flow to your lower limb(s) that cannot be treated by reopening the blood vessels, either because two previous attempts to open the vessels with a balloon procedure have failed, or because the arteries are too stiff/calcified or too small to treat
- You must have a serious level of reduced blood flow to your leg(s) (classified as Rutherford category 5 or 6), meaning you have active wounds or tissue damage on your foot or leg
- Your heart must be pumping at least 30% of its normal capacity (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to attend follow-up appointments or whose circumstances would make regular check-ins during the trial difficult
- People whose reduced blood flow to the lower limb(s) could still be treated using a bypass surgery or a balloon procedure to open the blood vessels, or whose main symptom is pain at rest without active wounds (classified as Rutherford category 4 or below)
- People whose heart is pumping less than 30% of its normal capacity
