Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose excessive sleepiness is caused by shift work, not getting enough sleep, or other disruptions to their sleep schedule
  • People whose excessive sleepiness is caused by drug or substance misuse

  • People who have serious health conditions affecting the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, blood, or hormonal system, or who have had a recent infection
  • People who have taken sleeping pills, sedatives, antidepressants, lithium, or certain other medications within the two weeks before being assessed for the trial
  • People who are unable to take part in two specific sleep tests — an overnight sleep study (PSG) and a daytime nap test (MSLT) — for any reason (confirm with trial site)
