Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 75 years old
- People who have muscle stiffness in the ankle and foot (specifically the muscles that point the foot downward) following a stroke, rated as mild to moderate on a standard scale
- People who have had their first stroke only
- People whose stroke occurred within the last 12 months
- People who have not previously received Botulinum Toxin A injections or dry needling treatment for muscle stiffness
- People whose ankle can be moved passively through at least approximately 20 degrees of motion when the knee is slightly bent
- People who are able to walk on their own, with or without a walking aid such as a cane or walker
Who may not be able to join:
- People with other health conditions that could make it difficult to interpret the trial results
- People who have medical reasons why Botulinum Toxin A injections or dry needling would not be safe for them
- People whose medication for muscle stiffness has had its dose changed during the trial period or within the 3 months before joining
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
