Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have been referred to a vascular medicine department at one of the study centres for an arterial ultrasound of at least one leg, and who are also having a blood pressure measurement taken at the toe
- People who have a confirmed arterial disease (with or without symptoms), shown by a resting ankle blood pressure reading of 0.90 or below, or a resting toe blood pressure reading of 0.70 or below
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose condition is medically unstable and who cannot safely wait for the ultrasound and toe pressure measurements to be completed before receiving treatment
- People who already have surgery on their leg (related to poor blood flow in the legs) planned at the time of joining the trial
- People whose life expectancy is less than 24 hours
- People who have previously had an amputation across the foot or higher up the leg, if this would make it impossible to take the required toe pressure or oxygen measurements
- People who do not wish to take part
