Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women with natural (non-reconstructed) breasts who have been diagnosed with localised breast cancer and have already had a lumpectomy (surgery to remove the tumour while keeping the breast)
- People who will be receiving whole-breast radiation therapy, with or without radiation to nearby lymph nodes, using a standard or moderately shortened radiation schedule
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who are able to understand and are willing to sign a written consent form in English or Spanish
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a chronic inflammatory condition or a connective tissue disorder — such as scleroderma, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or fibromyalgia — as these conditions may affect how the body responds to radiation
- People with serious ongoing health conditions that are not well managed, including active infections, heart failure, unstable chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or mental health or personal circumstances that could make it difficult to follow the trial requirements
- People who are unable to provide written consent in English or Spanish
- People whose radiation treatment plan involves a highly condensed (ultra-hypofractionated) schedule, or who are receiving radiation to only part of the breast or to the chest wall rather than the whole breast
