Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 to 75 years old, either male or female (who are not pregnant)
  • People who have been diagnosed with an unruptured brain aneurysm (a bulge in a blood vessel in the brain that has not burst), confirmed by a specialised brain scan (such as CTA, MRA, or DSA)
  • People whose aneurysm measures between 3mm and 25mm at its widest point
  • People who understand what the procedure involves and have agreed to take part in writing
  • People whose doctor has determined they need a flow diverter device placed in the blood vessel, with or without additional coil treatment, to manage their aneurysm
  • People who are willing to return to the trial site for follow-up visits as required by the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a medical reason to avoid atorvastatin (a cholesterol-lowering medicine), or who have a known allergy to it
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have other blood vessel conditions, such as coronary artery disease, a large artery aneurysm in the abdomen, narrowing of brain arteries, abnormal blood vessel connections in the brain, or certain other vascular diseases
  • People who have already been taking a statin medication for 30 days or more, or who have a medical reason to be on atorvastatin according to Chinese lipid management guidelines
  • People whose aneurysm has already burst, or whose aneurysm has already been treated with surgery or a procedure inside the blood vessel
  • People currently taking certain medications that can interact with atorvastatin, including some antibiotics, antifungals, anti-rejection drugs, other cholesterol-lowering medications, certain stomach medicines, and others (confirm with trial site for the full list)
  • People who have more than one brain aneurysm and need treatment for two or more of them within a one-year period
  • People whose aneurysm is not the standard rounded (saccular) shape — for example, those with a dissecting, fusiform, false, or infected aneurysm
  • People who cannot take blood-thinning or anti-clotting medications, who have an allergy or medical reason to avoid the materials used in the flow diverter device, or who have had a life-threatening reaction to contrast dye used in scans
  • People whose doctors have determined they cannot safely undergo general anaesthesia
  • People who are unwilling to attend follow-up visits or who are unlikely to follow the study plan
  • People whose life expectancy is less than 3 years
  • People with a severe neurological disability that means they cannot live independently (as measured by a standard disability scale — confirm with trial site)
  • People who are currently enrolled in another clinical trial
