Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have had a stroke (as defined by Traditional Chinese Medicine criteria), with symptoms such as weakness or paralysis on one side of the body, loss of sensation, difficulty speaking, or partial loss of vision
- People who show significant problems in at least one area of thinking or memory, along with serious difficulty carrying out everyday tasks

- People with no history of mental illness, who are fully conscious, have stable health signs, and are able to complete assessment questionnaires
- People who are within 6 months of having a stroke and have been diagnosed as being in the recovery phase of a brain infarction or brain bleed

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a transient ischemic attack (a brief, temporary stroke-like episode) rather than a full stroke
- People who have had a subarachnoid hemorrhage (a specific type of bleeding around the brain)
- People with a history of severe liver or kidney disease, mental illness, epilepsy, asthma, or chronic obstructive lung disease
- People whose memory or thinking problems started before their stroke
- People with severe difficulties in communication
- People with a history of substance abuse or heavy alcohol use
- People who have an implanted heart pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device
