Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
- People whose diabetes has lasted 10 years or more
- People who score 4 or higher on either the Gold Score or Clarke Score, which are tools used to assess whether someone has reduced awareness of low blood sugar episodes
- People whose C-peptide level (a measure of how much insulin the body still makes on its own) is below 200 pmol/L on a random blood test taken without fasting

Who may not be able to join:
- People with medical conditions that the trial investigator determines would limit their ability to participate, such as cognitive difficulties, significant hearing or vision loss, cancer currently being treated, untreated chest pain (angina), or organ failure
- People with active alcohol or drug misuse, defined as repeated use that causes problems at work, school, or home; repeated use in physically dangerous situations; or repeated alcohol- or drug-related legal issues
- People with social circumstances that the trial investigator determines would limit their ability to participate, such as homelessness, food insecurity, or lack of adequate support from others
- People with a seizure disorder not caused by low blood sugar, unless they have been documented as seizure-free for more than 12 months and are on a stable seizure medication plan
- People with skin conditions that would prevent them from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) device
- People who have been exposed to high-dose steroids within one month before enrolling
- People whose kidney function score (eGFR) is below 45 mL/min/1.73 m²
- People who have had a type of weight-loss surgery (bariatric surgery) that permanently changes the structure or nerve supply of the gut
- People with potassium levels in the blood that are too high (above 5.5 mmol/L) or too low (below 3.5 mmol/L)
- People with a hemoglobin level below 10 g/dL (a measure of red blood cells)
- People with a medical condition requiring regular or ongoing use of steroid medications (glucocorticoids) at doses higher than what the body would naturally produce
- People who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding
- People with thyroid function test results that the trial investigator considers clinically significant
- People whose liver enzyme levels (liver transaminases) are more than 3 times the upper limit of normal
- People who have been hospitalised for a mental health condition in the past year
- People who have had their adrenal glands removed (adrenalectomy)
