Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa as your primary condition
- You have some level of dissatisfaction with how your body looks, based on a specific photo-based rating scale (score of 1 or higher)
- You have concerns about your body shape, based on a standard eating disorder questionnaire (score of 3 or higher)
- Your weight has recovered enough that your BMI is at least 17.5
- You do not have dangerous drops in blood pressure when standing up, or your doctor has confirmed this does not put you at extra risk of falling
- You are transitioning from an acute care level to a residential level of treatment
- You have not started any new psychiatric medications in the week before joining the study
- You were assigned female sex at birth
- You are between 13 and 50 years old
- You are able to walk around on your own without assistance
- You are able to lie flat comfortably
- You can read and communicate in English
- You are willing and able to take part in all study activities
- You (and a parent or guardian if you are under 18) are able to provide signed agreement to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently having thoughts of suicide with a specific plan and intention to act on it
- You are currently cutting or injuring your skin
- You are currently pregnant, based on a urine test
- You are currently under the influence of drugs or alcohol, based on testing
- You have a history recorded by your doctor of a significant drop in blood pressure when standing up, especially if this puts you at greater risk of falling (such as feeling dizzy when you stand)
- You have had a seizure within the past 12 months
- You have also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or another psychosis-related condition
- Your systolic (top number) blood pressure is above 160 mmHg
- Your diastolic (bottom number) blood pressure is above 100 mmHg
- Your resting heart rate is fewer than 50 beats per minute
