Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 55 and 99 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with early or intermediate age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in at least one eye, which may include certain deposits under the retina (drusen) and/or changes in pigmentation.
- If both of your eyes are affected, both may be included in the study.
- Your eyes are clear enough (no major cloudiness) and your pupils can be dilated enough to allow for eye imaging and vision tests.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had eye surgery in the past 3 months in the eye being studied.
- You have previously received anti-VEGF injections (a type of eye injection treatment) in the eye being studied.
- You have a history of a specific type of swelling in the eye after cataract surgery (called Irvine Gass Syndrome) in the eye being studied.
- You have glaucoma that is not well controlled by medication, or significant damage to the optic nerve, in the eye being studied (confirm with trial site).
- You have another eye condition in the study eye that the doctor thinks is likely to need treatment during the study to protect your vision.
- You have another eye condition in the study eye that the doctor believes could interfere with the study results or require surgery (other than cataract surgery or a related laser procedure).
- You have corneal damage, cloudiness, or scarring that affects your vision.
- Your glasses or contact lens prescription is stronger than 6 diopters, or it was before any laser eye surgery or lens replacement you may have had.
- You are currently taking certain medications known to be harmful to the retina, such as hydroxychloroquine or tamoxifen.
- You have active abnormal blood vessel growth in the eye (called macular neovascularization) at the start of the study.
