Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged 18 to 75 years old, of any gender
• People diagnosed with squamous cell cancer of the esophagus (food pipe) in the chest area, confirmed by a tissue test (biopsy)
• People whose cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body, and whose cancer is considered advanced locally — the treating team (cancer specialists, surgeons, and imaging doctors) has determined the cancer may be removable by surgery now or potentially after treatment, at a specific stage range (confirm with trial site for exact staging details)
• People with a general health score of 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale, meaning they are fully active or have only minor limitations in daily activity
• People who have not previously received any cancer treatment such as radiation, chemotherapy, or immunotherapy
• People expected to live longer than 6 months
• People whose blood counts, liver, kidney, and heart function meet required levels as determined by blood tests (confirm with trial site for specific values)
• People with high blood pressure that is well controlled within the normal range using blood pressure medication
• People with diabetes whose fasting blood sugar is controlled at an acceptable level using medication
• People without serious ongoing conditions (such as autoimmune diseases, immune deficiency, organ transplant history, or conditions requiring long-term steroid treatment) that would conflict with this study
• People with no history of other cancers

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have already received any cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or immunotherapy

• People who have, or are expected to have, a high risk of a hole forming in the esophagus, an abnormal connection forming between the esophagus and another structure, or serious bleeding in the esophagus
• People with an active autoimmune or immune deficiency condition, or who have recently used immune-suppressing medications above a certain dose for more than two weeks
• People with serious heart conditions in the six months before joining, including recent heart attack, severe chest pain, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, certain heart rhythm problems, reduced heart pumping function, or other conditions that may make it unsafe to receive combined chemotherapy and radiation
• People with severe allergies
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People with severe mental health disorders
• People with significant nerve damage affecting the limbs (at a level classified as grade 3 or above on a standard scale — confirm with trial site)
• People with abnormal blood clotting results, a tendency to bleed, or who are currently receiving blood-thinning or clot-dissolving therapy
• People with serious lung conditions such as severe lung scarring, inflammation of the lung tissue, dust-related lung disease, severely reduced lung function, or active tuberculosis within the past year
• People with active hepatitis B or C infection
• People whom the study doctor considers unsuitable for any other reason
