Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 70 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with idiopathic recurrent acute pancreatitis (IRAP), meaning you have had 2 or more separate episodes of sudden pancreas inflammation, with full recovery between each episode, and no lasting damage to the pancreas.
- Your episodes of pancreas inflammation have been confirmed using standard tests, including blood tests, CT scans, MRI scans, and/or an internal ultrasound scan, and no clear cause has been found.
- You have had at least one episode of pancreas inflammation within the past year before joining the trial.
- You are willing to take part and sign a consent form agreeing to participate.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously had a procedure on the sphincter of Oddi (a muscle valve between the digestive organs) (confirm with trial site).
- You have not yet fully recovered from your most recent episode of pancreas inflammation.
- You have previously had surgery on your pancreas.
- You have a medical reason why you cannot safely have an ERCP procedure (a procedure that examines the digestive system using a small camera and X-rays) (confirm with trial site).
- You have a serious mental health condition or significant health problem that makes participation unsuitable.
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant within 12 months of joining the trial.
- You have other conditions that make participation in the study inappropriate (confirm with trial site).
