Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis (a condition where the hip joint wears down over time) according to specific guidelines from a UK health authority called NICE
- People whose hip osteoarthritis diagnosis has been confirmed by an X-ray showing a moderate level of joint changes (a score of 2 or 3 on a standard rating scale) in one or both hips

- People who have had surgery on either leg within the six months before joining the trial
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 40 (a measure of body weight relative to height)
- People who are pregnant
- People who have done a significant amount of resistance exercise (such as using weights or elastic bands) targeting the legs in recent months — specifically more than 12 sessions in the last 6 months or more than 6 sessions in the last 3 months
- People who have claustrophobia or are unable to tolerate a whole-body MRI scanner (a large medical imaging machine)
- People who have any metal implants located between the waist and just above the knee
- People who have a pacemaker or any other medical device that has not been approved as safe for use with MRI scanning
