Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with ALS (also known as motor neurone disease) within the last 6 months, based on a specific set of diagnostic guidelines called the Gold Coast Criteria.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are unable to answer survey questions on their own or with help from someone else, including through hand-controlled or eye-controlled devices, a tablet, or a phone call.
• People who are unable to cooperate with the study requirements.
• People who are currently pregnant.
• People who use cannabis, opioids, or other narcotics without a prescription.
• People who drink more than 21 units of alcohol per week.
• People who have a neurological condition caused by physical damage to the brain or nervous system, such as a stroke, brain tumour, or multiple sclerosis.
• People who have epilepsy.
• People who have a neurodegenerative disease other than ALS.
• People who have a severe psychiatric condition, such as major depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.
• People for whom MRI or MEG brain scans are not considered safe, based on hospital guidelines (confirm with trial site).
• People who have severe liver or kidney disease.
• People who have a heart condition that is not well controlled.
• People who are currently taking antidepressant or antipsychotic medication at the time of joining the trial.
• People who have been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
