Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with, or are suspected to have, an acute ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel in the brain) and are being considered for a clot-dissolving medication given through a drip (IV).
- Your stroke symptoms started (or you were last seen without symptoms) no more than 4.5 hours before being entered into the trial.
- You are between 18 and 90 years old.
- Your stroke is causing significant disability, based on a standard stroke severity score measured by the medical team.
- You have a confirmed or suspected blockage in one of the main blood vessels at the front of the brain, including blockages in both the neck and the brain at the same time.
- Before your stroke, you were able to look after yourself independently and were not living in a nursing care facility.
- You (or someone legally able to decide on your behalf) have given consent to take part, following the rules in your country.
Who may not be able to join:
- Your brain scans show a large area of brain already damaged by the stroke.
- Your brain scans show any bleeding in the brain.
- It is unlikely that the study medication can be given before a procedure to physically remove the clot (if that procedure has been planned).
- You are known or suspected to be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Your blood pressure is too low (below 90 mmHg on the top reading).
- You have previously received the study drug (NoNO-42) for any reason, including taking part in this trial before.
- You have a serious long-term illness where you are not expected to live for more than 90 days, or which may prevent you from completing the 90-day follow-up appointment.
- You currently live in a long-term care facility or are a prisoner.
- You are already taking part in another clinical trial testing a drug, medical device, or a non-standard surgical or brain procedure within the last 30 days (confirm with trial site).
