Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who had a stroke in the upper part of the brain at least 6 months before joining the trial
- People who have aphasia, specifically difficulty finding words, as a result of their stroke
- People who are able to take part in the programme (some support can be provided for those with thinking or understanding difficulties)
- People who have enough vision to use a computer-based speech and language therapy programme
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an implanted medical device, such as a pacemaker, or any implanted electrical stimulation device
- People who are currently receiving a course of speech and language therapy
- People who have damage to the vagus nerve (a major nerve in the body)
- People who have symptoms related to a very slow heart rate or certain types of irregular heart rhythm known as 2nd or 3rd degree heart block (confirm with trial site)
- People who are pregnant
- People who are not able to speak English
- People who have severe deafness that is not helped by hearing aids
