- People for whom surgery to treat the oesophageal cancer is being planned
- People whose cancer staging (determining how far the cancer has spread) could benefit from a specialised type of scan called a FAPI PET/CT
- People who are able to carry out basic daily activities independently, with a fitness level meeting a standard medical measure (Karnofsky Index 60% or ECOG score of 0 or 1) (confirm with trial site)
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who have received full information about the trial and have provided written agreement to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had radiation therapy in the area where the tumour is located
- People who have had a previous cancer diagnosis and have been in remission for fewer than 5 years
- People for whom surgery is not possible due to their physical condition or technical surgical reasons
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (distant metastasis)
- People who are not able to give informed consent to participate
- People who are already participating in another clinical trial that could interfere with the results of either trial
- People with other illnesses that prevent them from fully understanding what the study involves and what the possible consequences may be
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who show signs that they are unlikely to follow through with the treatment requirements, such as an unwillingness to cooperate
